The assets of the banking sector exceeded ₺13 trillion in September

According to the data of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the total asset size of the Turkish banking sector increased by 42.2% as of September, compared to the end of 2021, reaching ₺13.1 trillion.

The “Unconsolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector” report for the period of September 2022 was published by the BRSA.

According to the report, the asset size of the banking sector in September was ₺13 trillion 99 billion 876 million. While the total assets of the sector increased by ₺3 trillion 884 billion 413 million compared to the end of 2021, its proportional equivalent was 42.2%.

In this period, loans, the largest asset item of the sector, increased by 39.5% to ₺6 trillion 835 billion 941 million, and the total securities increased by 44.2% to ₺2 trillion 129 billion 777 million.

The NPL ratio of loans stood at 2.28% as of September.

Deposits, which are the largest source of funds among banks’ resources, increased by 51.8% in September compared to the end of 2021 and rose to ₺8 trillion 52 billion 541 million.

In the same period, the total equity reached ₺1 trillion 188 billion 813 million with an increase of 66.5%. As of the end of September, the sector’s net profit for the period was ₺286 billion 170 million, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was 18.83%.
