WHAT IS AN E-PASSPORT?

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu introduced the e-passport as follows:

“The new generation chip passports, called e-passports, were actually produced within the framework of a secure passport, which includes one of the basic conditions we signed for entry to the EU and visa liberalization. Turkey has been using these passports since 2018. 18 countries, like us, receive these passports from a company in Europe. There is a chip supply crisis that has arisen due to the pandemic all over the world. The company in question had difficulties in meeting the supplies.

We have tried our best not to inconvenience our citizens. Many countries in Europe returned to their old passports, continuing their expired passports. We also experienced difficulties, but we tried not to make our citizens feel this. Yesterday, our esteemed President also stated that we have started the new domestic e-passport studies, and we are at the final stage for mass production. “

WHAT IS THE NEW E-BLUE CARD?

“We will convert it to an e-blue card. We wanted to make the blue card used by our citizens in Germany who have to renounce their Turkish citizenship more secure. It is still organized in an old-fashioned way as a paper product. A new, more secure e-blue card with biometric data is being prepared.

WHEN WILL E-PASSPORTS BE USED?

President Erdogan said: “I wish that our new passport, which will begin to be issued to our citizens as of August, will be beneficial for our country and our nation.”
