Increase in white meat exports to China

A high increase was achieved in China, which has great potential in white meat exports. White meat exports to China increased by 353% in the last 12 months as of June, reaching $61 million.

ISHIB President Mujdat Sezer, whose views are included in the statement, stated that China is one of the countries that import the most in the chicken meat sector in the world, and reminded that the studies carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for this country have yielded results and that the market has been opened to Turkiye.

Noting that the companies submitted their applications to export to China, Sezer said that the visits of the Chinese delegations to the facility were postponed due to the epidemic conditions and travel restrictions. “Despite the authorization to export poultry to China has been given to a company, there has been a significant increase in exports to this country. Our white meat exports to China will continue to increase in the coming period, once the aforementioned export permits are obtained by all companies.”

“We are heading towards the markets closed to exports”

Mujdat Sezer reported that Iraq comes first with $380.5 million in exports, followed by Italy with $101.9 million, Russia with $100.6 million and the Netherlands with $89.5 million.

Explaining that they are heading towards markets that are closed to export as a union, and that they aim to deliver products produced with world-class quality and technology to the whole world, Sezer made the following statements:

“For this, we are in talks with our ministries to ensure that these markets are opened through bureaucratic studies, and that the customs duties are zeroed by determining the countries with which a free trade agreement should be made. On the other hand, it is of great importance to focus on the export of products with higher added value and to open up the most important target market such as the EU to our exports and bring them into the sector. Turkiye can send aquatic products to Europe, and we can even say that one out of every 4 fish consumed in Europe is Turkish fish. Our goal is to achieve a similar success for the export of poultry products.”

Stating that Turkiye produces at world standards in the aquaculture and animal products sector, Sezer said that they can send fresh, frozen and high value-added products to all over the world with their advanced logistics facilities.
