Remarkable statements for Kalyon Karapinar Solar Power Plant came from Ziya Altunyaldiz, Chairman of the Parliamentary Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission. Altunyaldiz said, “Karapinar SPP, which will be the largest solar power plant in Turkey and Europe and the 5th largest in the world, will contribute to a significant threshold in our country’s renewable energy potential when it is completed. With such a big investment, we will meet the electricity of approximately 2.5 million citizens from Konya and we will contribute to the green development revolution of our country by reducing our carbon emissions.”
Ziya Altunyaldiz, Chairman of the Parliamentary Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission, stated that the Kalyon Karapinar Solar Power Plant (GES) will contribute to the green development revolution by reducing carbon emissions.
Altunyaldiz told Anadolu Agency (AA) the situation at the Karapinar SPP, which is under construction in Konya and will be Turkey’s largest solar power plant when completed.
3.5 MILLION PANELS TO BE USED AT KALYON KARAPINAR SOLAR POWER PLANT
Stating that 812 thousand 303 megawatt-hours of production was carried out in the power plant, where the installed power reached 628 megawatts, Altunyaldiz reminded that 3.5 million solar panels will be used in the power plant, whose total installed power will be 1300 megawatts.
Altunyaldiz stated that when Karapinar SPP is completed, it will meet the electricity needs of 2.5 million people, “Karapinar SPP, which will be the largest solar power plant in Turkey and Europe and the 5th largest in the world, will contribute to a significant threshold in our country’s renewable energy potential when it is completed. Karapinar SPP, which is built on an area the size of 2,600 football fields, will increase the share of solar energy in our country’s electricity production to 20% when it is completed.”
“THE INSTALLED POWER OF 1348 MEGAWATTS WILL BE REACHED AT THE END OF 2022”
Emphasizing that electricity production continues with the Karapinar SPP, Altunyaldiz continued as follows:
“As of today, our power plant, which has reached approximately 600 megawatts, will reach an installed power of 1348 megawatts by the end of 2022. Solar energy panels are produced on our land by our engineers. We are equipping Karapinar SPP with domestic and national solar energy panels, which will reach 3.5 million in total. It is an important investment that embraces qualified human capital. We create highly qualified employment of 3 thousand people in total. When Karapinar SPP is completed, we will prevent carbon emissions of more than 2 million tons per year. With such a big investment, we will meet the electricity of approximately 2.5 million citizens from Konya and we will contribute to the green development revolution of our country by reducing our carbon emissions. Our Konya, the center of agriculture and industry, is now becoming the center of green transformation and renewable energy.”
Altunyaldiz stated that Karapinar SPP is an important investment in that it contains the latest domestic and national technologies of the last period.
Reminding that almost all of the installed power implemented in Turkey with the National Energy and Mining Policy comes from renewable energy sources, Altunyaldiz noted that resource diversity in the field of energy has been successfully implemented.
