State Hydraulic Works (DSI) General Manager Kaya Yildiz stated that the works at Mersin Aydincik Dam are continuing at full speed and said, “Injection productions have been completed in the dam, which was built in rockfill type with a concrete front face, and 2 thousand 650 decares of agricultural land will be irrigated with the water to be stored. Façade concrete production, which is one of the important stages of the project, has also been completed. Thanks to this dam, the waters formed by the melting of snow in the Taurus Mountains and spilled into the Mediterranean until today will be stored and offered to the service of our farmers from Mersin.”

Stating that the body fill, front face concrete, spillway, water intake structure, injection, transportation and relocation road works have been completed, General Manager Yildiz said, “Works on the bottom outlet penstock pipe, valve room and parapet wall are continuing in the dam, which we aim to hold water by the end of 2021. With the completion of Mersin Aydincik Dam, which is 46 meters high from the foundation and has a water storage capacity of 1,590 million m3, it is aimed to contribute ₺4 million annually to the country’s economy with 2021 unit prices.”
