Yıldız Holding to Sell Historic Adapazarı Sugar Factory to Bor Şeker

ISTANBUL — Turkish food giant Yıldız Holding has signed a preliminary agreement to sell the historic Adapazarı Sugar Factory to Bor Şeker, marking a major shift in the group’s industrial operations.

According to a disclosure made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the parties signed a preliminary protocol for the transfer of shares of Adapazarı Sugar Factory, which has been operated by Yıldız Holding since 2013. The financial details of the potential transaction were not disclosed.

If the transaction is finalized, Yıldız Holding — the parent company of many major food brands including Ülker — will completely exit the sugar production sector, where it has been active for years.

Bor Şeker said the signed protocol reflects the intent of both parties, and the process is expected to be completed through a final and binding share transfer agreement. Negotiations regarding operational handover and other details are still ongoing.

The acquisition discussions reportedly began on January 31, 2026, but the announcement was delayed due to strategic considerations and to prevent potential speculative movements in share prices.

Once the transfer is completed, the factory’s operations will be taken over by Bor Şeker, bringing an end to Yıldız Holding’s involvement in sugar manufacturing.
