$1 million worth of chili peppers were exported to 25 countries from Islahiye

Products worth $1 million were sold to 25 countries from the Islahiye district of Gaziantep, one of Turkiye’s important table chili pepper production centers.

Selahattin Turkmen, Chairman of the Board of Islahiye Chamber of Commerce, said in his statement to journalists that the district is one of the important production centers of table chili pepper.

Stating that the table pepper, grown on 20 thousand decares in the district and processed in 25 facilities, was exported to 25 countries, Turkmen stated that $1 million were obtained from foreign sales.

Stating that the taste and quality of pepper comes from the geographical features of the region, Turkmen stated that the product is sold to many Middle Eastern countries as well as America, Germany, Netherlands, England, Italy, France and Romania. ​

Stating that they tried to strengthen the economy of the district after the earthquakes, Turkmen said:

“We brought together the owners of around 25 chili pepper processing facilities and pepper producers in the district. While healing the wounds of the earthquake quickly, we exported $1 million to 25 countries. This was a serious contribution to my district, local employers and farmers. In this way, we will hopefully try to bring our district to a better place.”
