$549 million resource from the World Bank to Turkiye for renewable energy

The World Bank Board of Executive Directors will provide $549 million of financing to increase the use of renewable energy in Turkiye.

According to the bank’s statement, the Public and Municipal Renewable Energy Project will accelerate the use of renewable energy in central government and municipal facilities in Turkiye.

$549 million of financing allocated within the scope of the project will contribute to the acceleration of renewable energy use in Turkiye, the achievement of the country’s climate change commitments and energy security by playing a leading role in the public sector.

Humberto Lopez, Country Director of the World Bank for Turkiye, whose views were included in the statement, stated that the project will benefit the Turkish economy and the environment, and said, “Renewable energy for public facilities can help Turkiye meet its climate commitments while mitigating the impact of rising energy prices on municipal bills.

The building sector is one of the sectors that consume the most energy and cause the most carbon emissions, and this has a direct impact on the health of citizens.
