The Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee will announce its interest rate decision tomorrow. The bank had increased the policy rate to 15% at the previous meeting.
According to the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee meeting calendar, the interest rate decision for July will be announced at 14.00 tomorrow.
The expectation survey for the meeting resulted in the participation of 20 economists. The median of expectations for the change in policy rate was 500 basis points.
According to the results of the survey, the policy rate expectations of economists, who predicted an increase by 250 to 650 basis points, were between 17.5% and 21.5%, and their year-end policy rate expectations were between 25% and 50%.
Year-end interest rate expectation is 28.5%
The median of economists’ year-end policy rate expectations was 28.5%.
Last month, the Monetary Policy Committee, which met for the first time under the chairmanship of Hafize Gaye Erkan, raised the policy rate to 15% with an increase of 650 basis points.
