Turkish Trade Minister attended the Turkiye-Slovakia Business Forum in Bratislava: We set a trade target of $5 billion

Minister of Trade Omer Bolat stated that they discussed new cooperation opportunities between the two countries and said, “We have set a target to increase our bilateral trade volume to $3 billion in the short term and $5 billion in the medium term.”

Bolat, in his post on his social media account X, stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Slovakia, Denisa Sakova, met with representatives of the business world of the two countries on the occasion of the Turkiye-Slovakia Business Forum.

Stating that they discussed new cooperation opportunities that will strengthen the economic and commercial relations between the two countries at the forum, Bolat said:

“We have set a target to increase our bilateral trade volume to $3 billion in the short term and $5 billion in the medium term. Green transformation, digitalization and mobility stand out as the main areas where we can strengthen our cooperation. At the forum, we stated that Turkiye offers attractive opportunities to investors with its dynamic economy, strategic location and strong trade network, and invited Slovak companies to benefit from the investment opportunities offered by Turkiye.”

The highest volume in trade with Slovakia was reached

Minister Bolat stated that they opened a new page in bilateral relations by signing the Founding Declaration of the Turkiye-Slovakia Economy and Trade Joint Committee (ETOK/JETCO).

Stating that they met with Sakova within the scope of the ETOK Founding Declaration Meeting and signed the ETOK Founding Declaration, Bolat made the following evaluation:

“JETCO will transform our economic and commercial relations into a strategic partnership, enabling us to work shoulder to shoulder with business communities from both countries. Within the scope of the Business Forum, we witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between DEIK and the Slovakia Trade and Investment Development Agency.”

Bolat stated that they found the signing of both documents important for creating an institutional framework that will deepen the economic and commercial relations between Turkiye and Slovakia, and that the trade volume of $2.3 billion has been reached by 2023, the highest figure between the two countries.

Pointing out that there is a great mutual potential in bilateral relations with Slovakia in many sectors, especially automotive, innovation, informatics and renewable energy, Bolat said, “As the Ministers of Trade and Economy of the two countries, we will strive to reveal this potential within the scope of the ETOK / JETCO mechanism.”
