Borsa Istanbul Closes Day with 0.82% Decline

Banking and Holding Indices Drop Amid Global Market Uncertainty

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended the day with a 0.82% decrease, closing at 10,679.98 points. The index fell by 87.87 points from the previous close, with a total trading volume of ₺90.4 billion.

The banking index dropped by 2.44% and the holding index by 1.21%. Among sector indices, sports saw the highest gains with a 4.35% increase, while mining experienced the largest loss, falling by 2.48%.

Analysts noted that global stock markets exhibited mixed performances due to uncertainties surrounding the future actions of the U.S. Federal Reserve and continued value losses in the technology sector, particularly affecting chip maker Nvidia.

Looking ahead, analysts highlighted the importance of domestic weekly money and banking statistics, as well as U.S. new home sales and building permits, and Germany’s GfK consumer confidence data, which are expected to influence market movements. From a technical perspective, they identified 10,600 and 10,500 points as support levels and 10,800 and 10,900 points as resistance levels for the BIST 100 index.
