Bosphorus Boat Show starts this weekend: Latest model boats and yachts will meet on land

The latest model boats and yachts will be introduced at the Bosphorus Boat Show, which will be held by the Yacht and Boat Industry Association (YATED) at the Istanbul Expo Center between 17-24 February.

The most important brands of Turkiye and the world are showcasing their latest model boats and yachts in Istanbul. More than 250 participants and more than 1,500 products and services will be exhibited at the Bosphorus Boat Show, which will be held by the Yacht and Boat Industry Association (YATED) at the Istanbul Expo Center between 17-24 February. At the fair, all components, from motor yachts to catamarans, from sailboats to small boats, from marine engines to boat equipment, will come together.

The fair will be the world’s second and Turkiye’s largest fair, held on land in Istanbul. More than 65 thousand visitors are expected to attend the fair, which will be held in a net area of 45 thousand square meters.

LARGE BOATS WILL BE EXHIBITED AT ATAKOY MARINA

Since the fair will be held in a closed area, boats that cannot enter the fair area will be exhibited at Atakoy Marina. Stating that one of the biggest goals of the fair is to sell the stocks of the industry, YATED President Murat Bekiroglu stated that not only boats, yachts or products needed by the industry will be exhibited at the fair, but also the problems of the industry will be discussed and preparations will be made for the future.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS BOAT MOORING PRICES

Stating that the biggest problems of the sector are the lack of marinas and rising boat mooring prices, Bekiroğlu shared the following information in his statement;

“We said that while the daily mooring price of a 42-meter boat in Monaco is €650, it is €1200 in Gocek. We made this statement in 2023. Prices continued to rise in 2024. There was a 3-fold increase in TL and a 2-fold increase in foreign currency. The solution is to increase the number of marinas. For a short-term solution, fishing shelters can be converted into marinas. Fishermen will have better conditions and boat mooring capacity will be increased. The definitive solution is provided by marina investments.

Today, the investment value of a 5-star marina with a capacity of 550 yachts is around $80 million. If you make these investments, you will attract boat and yacht owners from abroad to Turkiye. They stay at the marina not only in summer, but also in winter. They also have its maintenance, repair and technical work done there. Income from yacht tourism is at very high levels compared to mass tourism. We are currently the most expensive in Europe in terms of marina prices. We explained the problem to our state officials as the sector representative. We even made an agreement with a company and studied places with marina potential on the Turkish coast. We also forwarded this presentation to them. The determined locations are between the south of Izmir and the north of Antalya.”

NEW PRODUCTS WILL BE INTRODUCED FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THIS FAIR

Many companies introduce their new products for the first time at this fair. Honda Marine will also exhibit its new generation ‘V8 outboard engine BF350’ at the fair for the first time in Turkiye. Classic Boats Platform will also organize a different event. At the fair, participants will be able to watch the restoration stages of the 50-year-old and 11-meter boat Lady Q, moment by moment.
