Turkiye’s licensed electricity production in February decreased by 5.29% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 23 million 641 thousand 34 megawatt-hours.
According to the February “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, 30.67% of licensed electricity production was made by natural gas power plants, 23.84% by imported coal power plants, 13.73% by lignite power plants, 10.24% by hydroelectric power plants and 12.19% by wind power plants.”
These sources were followed by geothermal, biomass, hard coal, solar, asphaltite and fuel-oil, respectively.

The amount of billed electricity consumption decreased by 10.87% in the same period and amounted to 18 million 932 thousand 179 megawatt-hours.
40.03% of the consumption was realized by industry, 29.21% by residential, 26.91% by public and private services sector and other subscribers. The share of lighting was recorded as 2.44% and the share of agricultural activities as 1.41%.
Number of consumers and installed power increased
The number of electricity consumers increased by 1.17% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 48 million 19 thousand 796.
In this period, the number of residential consumers increased by approximately 2.53% and the number of agricultural activities consumers increased by 0.37%. There was a decrease of 19.96% in the number of lighting consumers, 21.22% in the number of industrial consumers, and 4.8% in the number of public and private services sector and other consumers.
Turkiye’s licensed electricity installed capacity, on the other hand, increased by 3.23% in this period and reached approximately 95 thousand 223 megawatts.
26.52% of the installed power consists of natural gas cycle power plants and 24.44% of hydroelectric power plants with dams. 11.88% of the installed power is wind power plants, 10.89% is imported coal power plants, and the remaining part consists of facilities that generate electricity from other energy sources.
