Electricity production increased by 2.61% in May

Turkiye’s licensed electricity production increased by 2.61% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 24 million 636 thousand 833 megawatt-hours.

According to the “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for May, 30.62% of licensed electricity production was made in hydroelectric power plants, 19.59% in natural gas power plants, 17% in imported coal power plants, 12.4% in lignite power plants and 9.6% in wind power plants.

These sources were followed by geothermal, biomass, solar, hard coal, asphaltite and fuel-oil, respectively.

Turkiye’s licensed electricity production in May increased by 2.61% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 24 million 636 thousand 833 megawatt hours.

The amount of billed electricity consumption increased by 0.89% in the same period and amounted to 19 million 954 thousand 321 megawatt-hours.

43.7% of the consumption was made by industry, 24.9% by residential, 24.6% by the public and private services sector and other subscribers. The share of lighting was recorded as 2% and the share of agricultural activities as 4,86%.

Number of consumers and installed power increased

The number of electricity consumers increased by 2.9% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 49 million 114 thousand 190.

In this period, the number of residential consumers increased by 4.21% and the number of agricultural activity consumers increased by 3.82%. There was a decrease of 20.8% in the number of lighting consumers, 25.35% in the number of industrial consumers, and 2.7% in the number of public and private services sector and other consumers.

Turkiye’s licensed electricity installed capacity increased by 2.8% in this period to 95,380 megawatts.

Natural gas cycle power plants accounted for 26.48% of the installed power, hydroelectric power plants with dams 24.4%, wind power plants 11.9% and imported coal power plants 10.9%, the remaining part consisted of facilities generating electricity from other energy sources.
