Turkiye’s automotive production increased by 12% in 10 months

Total automotive production increased by 12% in the 10 months of this year compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 million 210 thousand 342.

Automotive Industry Association (OSD) announced the data for the 10-month period of 2023.

Accordingly, total production increased by 12% compared to the same period last year and reached 1 million 210 thousand 342. Automobile production, which increased by 23% compared to the 10-month period of last year, increased to 779 thousand 328, and total production, including tractor production, increased to 1 million 258 thousand 751.

While production decreased by 3% in the commercial vehicle group and by 6% in the light commercial vehicle group in the 10 months of the year, it increased by 23% in the heavy commercial vehicle group. Compared to the 10-month period of 2022, the commercial vehicle market increased by 46%, the heavy commercial vehicle market increased by 24%, and the light commercial vehicle market increased by 51%.

In the 10 months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year, total automotive exports increased by 7% in terms of units, while the increase in automobile exports was 21%. During this period, total exports were 832 thousand 80 and automobile exports were 540 thousand 304.

In the 10-month period of 2023, the total market increased by 62% compared to the same period last year, closing at 999 thousand 858. During this period, the automobile market also increased by 68% and reached 749 thousand 501.

Exports increased by 16% and reached $29.3 billion

In the 10-month period of the year, automotive exports increased by 7% in terms of units compared to the same period last year, reaching 832 thousand 80. During this period, automobile exports increased by 21% compared to the same period of the previous year, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 12%. Tractor exports increased by 3%compared to the same period of 2022 and reached 15 thousand 648.

According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, total automotive industry exports maintained its top place in the sectoral export rankings with 14% in the 10-month period of 2023.

According to Uludag Exporters’ Associations (UIB) data, total automotive exports in the first 10-month period increased by 16% compared to the same period of 2022, reaching $29.3 billion. On a euro basis, it increased by 13% and reached €27.1 billion. During this period, main industry exports increased by 19% and supply industry exports increased by 11% in dollar terms.
