Exports in Turkish lira increased by 77.2% in the January-September period of 2023

Exports in Turkish lira increased by 77.2% in the January-September period of this year compared to the same period last year, reaching ₺150 billion 581 million.

According to the Ministry of Commerce data, Turkiye’s exports increased by 0.3% in September, reaching $22 billion 670 million. This figure was recorded as the highest September export value.

Imports decreased by 14.1% to $27 billion 658 million in the same period.

Foreign trade volume decreased by 8.2% and reached $50 billion 328 million.

In the January-September period, exports decreased by 0.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, falling to $187 billion 464 million, while imports increased by 1.3% to $274 billion 755 million. In the said period, foreign trade volume increased by 0.6% and reached $462 billion 219 million.

The course of exports also affected exports in Turkish lira

Foreign trade in Turkish lira also followed a course parallel to the developments in Turkiye’s foreign trade volume.

Accordingly, while exports in Turkish lira were ₺14 billion 597 million and imports ₺30 billion 738 million in January, the foreign trade volume increased to ₺45 billion 335 million.

Turkiye’s February exports decreased by 6.4% compared to the same month last year, falling to $18.6 billion, due to the impact of the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaras. Exports in Turkish lira decreased to ₺13 billion 765 million in the same month. In this period, imports in Turkish lira were recorded as ₺40 billion 364 million, and foreign trade volume was recorded as ₺54 billion 129 million.

The recovery in exports in March was also reflected in foreign sales in Turkish lira. In March, the exports in question amounted to ₺17 billion 884 million. During this period, the import amount in Turkish lira was ₺45 billion 755 million, while the foreign trade volume increased to ₺63 billion 639 million.

While the negative impact of the Kahramanmaras-centered February 6 earthquakes on exports continued in April, exports decreased by 17.2% compared to the same month last year, reaching $19.3 billion. In this context, in the month in question, exports in Turkish lira decreased to ₺14 billion 288 million, imports decreased to ₺43 billion 123 million, and foreign trade volume decreased to ₺57 billion 411 million.

While exports increased to ₺16 billion 195 million with the Turkish lira, which started to rise again in May, imports with Turkish liras were determined as ₺49 billion 481 million and foreign trade volume was determined as ₺65 billion 676 million.

While exports in Turkish lira were ₺16 billion 482 billion in June and ₺16 billion 362 million in July, it climbed to ₺20 billion 665 million in August. Foreign trade volume with Turkish lira was ₺61 billion 968 million, ₺70 billion 955 million and ₺72 billion 766 million in the said months, respectively.

Exports in Turkish lira increased by 27% in September

Exports in Turkish lira increased by 27% in September compared to the same month last year, reaching ₺20 billion 342 million. During this period, the import amount in Turkish lira was ₺54 billion 432 million, while the foreign trade volume reached ₺74 billion 774 million.

Exports in Turkish lira increased by 77.2% in the January-September period compared to the same period last year, reaching ₺150 billion 581 million. During this period, imports in Turkish lira were recorded as ₺416 billion 73 million.

The foreign trade volume carried out in Turkish lira in the 9 months of the year was calculated as ₺566 billion 654 million, an increase of 120.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.

On the other hand, in September, the number of countries exporting in Turkish lira was 165, and the number of companies exporting in Turkish lira was 15 thousand 557.
