Foreign sales of $8.5 billion in 9 months from Istanbul exporters

Istanbul Exporters’ Association Coordinator President Cem Seven said, “We continue on our way by increasing the diversity of our markets and our exports. We will continue our contribution to the Turkish economy by breaking new export records.”

Istanbul Exporters’ Associations (IIB) achieved exports of approximately $8 billion 500 million in the January-September period of the year, with an increase of 3.6% on an annual basis.

According to the statement made by IIB, the share of IIB, which sold products to 197 countries in 9 months of the year, in the country’s exports was 5.2%.

Istanbul Exporters’ Association made the most exports in the 3rd quarter of the year to Iraq with $556 million. The most products sold to this country were poultry, animal products, furniture, paper and forest products.

Iraq was followed by the USA, Norway, Germany and the United Kingdom in IIB’s exports.

Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and furniture and paper products came to the fore for the USA, ships, yachts and services for Norway, hazelnuts and their products, furniture, paper and forestry products for Germany, Sales of furniture, paper and forestry products, as well as grains, pulses, oilseeds and their products to the United Kingdom came to the fore.

Based on country groups, the region to which IIB exported the most was the European Union region with $1 billion 717 million.

Exports to European Union countries increased by 12.6% in the 9 months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year.

Istanbul Exporters’ Association’s exports in September exceeded $1 billion. The Union exported the most in September to Iraq, Canada and the Faroe Islands.

IIB Coordinator President Cem Seven, whose evaluations were included in the statement, stated that they successfully closed the three quarters of the year with a 3.6% increase in exports on an annual basis.

“Istanbul Exporters’ Associations had a busy month of September with activities aimed at increasing exports. Our Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association announced the sustainability action plan they prepared to the public. We successfully promoted our sectors with the different events we organized by organizing Turkiye’s national participation in Fine Food 2023, the largest food fair in the southern hemisphere held in Australia, Furniture China 2023, one of the important furniture fairs of the region, and NEVA 2023, one of the world’s leading maritime fairs.

We participated in Seafood Expo Russia 2023 and Monaco Yacht Show 2023, two of the important fairs of the aquaculture industry, with an info stand. We hosted a purchasing delegation from Japan and had bilateral business meetings with our export companies. We also organized a purchasing delegation program within the scope of World Food Istanbul 2023 Food Fair. We continue on our way by increasing the diversity of our markets and our exports. We will continue our contribution to the Turkish economy by breaking new export records.”
