Grain and Pulses Exporters exported $143.8 million in May

Memis, Chairman of the Board of AHBIB, announced that their union realized foreign sales of $143.8 million in May.

Veysel Memis, Chairman of the Mediterranean Grain, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBIB), stated that the sector’s overall exports in Turkiye in May were recorded as $946.6 million.

Memis noted that an increase was achieved in AHBIB’s foreign sales during the said period, “In May, we achieved an 8% increase compared to the same period of the previous year and exported $143.8 million. We exported to 149 countries. We supported the sector’s exports in Turkiye by 15.2%.”

Memis stated that they exported the most to Iraq with $28.4 million in May, followed by Syria and Germany.

Stating that their union sold 165 thousand 78 tons of products to international markets in May, Memis said:

“Pastry products, pulses, sugar and sugar products were in the top three in the product groups we export the most. We reached an export value of $39 million with an increase of 30% in pastry products. Pulses ranked second with $32.2 million, and sugar and sugar products ranked third with $19.3 million.”
