iPhone 16 can deliver ultra-fast AI performance with the new Neural Engine

The iPhone 16 family, which is expected to be introduced in September, may have advanced artificial intelligence features.

It is claimed that Apple’s next processor family, the M4 and A18, will greatly increase the number of onboard AI computing cores. According to the news published by Economic Daily News, this means that iPhone 16 can offer ultra-fast artificial intelligence performance.

With these updates, the carrying rate of artificial intelligence applications in all product series will be greatly improved.

It is possible to describe this expectation as a reference to the iPhone’s Neural Engine. For those who don’t know, Neural Engine is a piece of hardware generally produced by Apple and specifically optimized for tasks such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. It has been used as part of iPhones and iPads since Apple’s A12 Bionic chip. Neural Engine is a group of chips designed specifically to run deep learning algorithms. These algorithms are used in object recognition, face recognition, language processing and other complex artificial intelligence tasks.

Apple says the A17 Pro’s Neural Engine is twice as fast as the A16’s Neural Engine and can process up to 35 trillion operations per second. In other words, this shows that a much faster process can be experienced for Apple in terms of artificial intelligence in the new era.

However, no official statement has been made from the company on this issue, and we will be able to learn this when the iPhone 16 family is introduced. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models to be introduced this year are both expected to have a version of the A18 chip. Currently, the iPhone 15 uses the A16 chip and the iPhone 15 Pro uses the A17 Pro chip. What is confusing about the new claims is which devices of the iPhone 16 family the new and more powerful Neural Engine will be available on.
