Istanbul’s yacht capacity will increase with the new Guzelce Marina Project

The “Pearl Of Istanbul Guzelce Marina Project”, whose environmental impact assessment (EIA) process has started in Istanbul, is aimed to be completed in 4 years and contribute to Turkiye’s tourism with a capacity of 472 yachts.

According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent, Turkiye is accelerating its investments to get a larger share from yacht tourism.

While the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts such as Bodrum, Antalya, Marmaris, Izmir, Kusadasi, Cesme and Fethiye are becoming the center of attention in yacht tourism, new projects are also being implemented for Istanbul.

The EIA process has started for the “Pearl Of Istanbul Guzelce Marina Project” planned to be built here.

According to the information in the EIA application file, the project will be built with 5 anchors within the borders of Yenimahalle, Kumburgaz region of Istanbul. The capacity of the port will be a total of 472 yachts, 430 of which will be at sea and 42 will be on land.

Within the scope of the project, there will be residences, hotels, villas, commercial area, parking lot and other structures such as social facilities, cafeterias, swimming pools and terraces along with the marina.

It is planned to be completed in 4 years

The construction of the project is expected to be completed in 4 years. It is estimated that the economic life of the marina will be 25 years once it is put into operation. During this period, its economic life can be extended with the renovation, maintenance and repair works to be carried out in the marina area. 200 personnel will work in the construction phase of the project and 150 personnel will work in the operation part.

Considering the costs such as filling works, coastal structures, superstructures, field arrangements, landscaping works, social areas, machinery-equipment supply and installation, and project planning, the project cost was determined as ₺963 million. It is anticipated that the marina will reach 90 percent capacity in the 3rd-4th year of operation.

In order to receive opinions and suggestions regarding the project, a meeting will be held on the dates to be determined by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change to inform the public and participate in the process.
