Emirates and Saudi Arabia’s privately owned low-cost carrier Flynas have signed an expanded two-way interline partnership, increasing global connectivity.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on May 7 will see the Middle East carriers building on an existing interline agreement. EK’s current interline with XY provides its customers with enhanced connectivity via its four gateways Riyadh , Jeddah , Medinah, and Dammam, to over 15 destinations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also includes the convenience of single-ticket itineraries with onward booking and baggage transfers.
“We are proud to expand our interline agreement with Flynas. The existing Flynas links provide our customers with an array of possibilities to travel smoothly across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in particular to business hubs and emerging leisure and cultural destinations,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer.
Extensive Network
Under the new bilateral arrangement, XY’s customers will be able to connect across any of EK’s gateways in Saudi Arabia for onward travel via Dubai (DXB), to destinations served in EK’s extensive route network. XY offers scheduled flights to more than 70 domestic and international destinations.
The RUH-based LCC operates over 1,500 weekly flights to destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
“With the expansion of the interline to a bilateral arrangement, Flynas travelers can connect to a select roster of Emirates’ onward destinations on the airline’s network in the Far East, West Asia & Indian Ocean, and Europe, via Dubai. We are quite pleased to offer more choices to our customers through Emirates’ wide network,” said Bander Almohanna, Flynas Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director.
Emirates Builds on Saudi Arabia Partnership
The Dubai-based carrier has been working with partners in Saudi Arabia to support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 plans, which include efforts to attract tourists and to promote its tourism destinations.
In 2022, EK signed an MoU with the Saudi Tourism Authority to increase inbound tourism to Saudi Arabia and attract new segments of travelers across EK’s global route network. The airline has been facilitating tourism and trade in Saudi Arabia since 1989.
Emirates has grown its scheduled operations to RUH, JED, MED, and DMM since the launch of these routes over 30 years ago. Today EK serves the four gateways with 73 weekly flights. Furthermore, EK operates A380 services to RUH and JED from its DXB hub.
