Minister of Commerce Bolat: We will increase our exports to $302 billion

Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat said, “Within the scope of the Medium Term Program targets, we will increase our exports to $267 billion in 2024 and $302.2 billion in 2026.”

Discussions on the 2024 budget of the Ministry of Commerce started at the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye Planning and Budget Commission.

In the Commission convened under the chairmanship of AK Party Samsun Deputy Mehmet Mus, the 2024 budget of the Ministry of Commerce, as well as the budget, final accounts and Court of Accounts Reports of the Competition Authority and the Halal Accreditation Agency are discussed.

Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat noted the following in his presentation regarding the budget of his Ministry;

Turkiye’s economy will grow by 3.9% in the first quarter of 2023; It grew by 3.8% in the second quarter, maintaining its uninterrupted growth performance for 12 quarters.

The recent steps taken in monetary and fiscal policies and the Medium Term Program show a recovery in confidence indices. Our country’s PMI index was close to the threshold value at 49.6 in September.

In August 2023, the current account deficit decreased by 77.5% annually and 88.8% monthly, reaching $619 million. Within the scope of the Medium Term Program, the current account deficit is expected to decrease to $42.5 billion in 2023. Within the scope of the Medium Term Program (MTP) targets, we will increase our exports to $267 billion in 2024 and $302.2 billion in 2026.

We banned the marketing of second-hand vehicles through advertisements at a price above the new price until the end of the year. As a result of the inspections we carried out within the scope of this regulation, we imposed administrative fines of approximately ₺67.5 million this year.
