The deposits in the Turkish banking sector decreased

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has announced the weekly money and banking statistics.

Accordingly, the total deposits of the banking sector (including interbank) decreased by 17 billion 521 million 689 thousand lira to 15 trillion 905 billion 636 million 683 thousand lira, ending on April 5th.

During the same period, TL-denominated deposits in banks increased by 1.82% to 8 trillion 715 billion 122 million 813 thousand lira, while deposits in foreign currency (FC) decreased by 2.88% to 6 trillion 434 billion 759 million 503 thousand lira.

The total FC deposits in banks were calculated as 213 billion 11 million dollars at the end of the week of April 5th, of which 180 billion 476 million dollars were held in the accounts of residents in Turkey.

Considering the data adjusted for the parity effect in the total FC deposits of domestic residents, a decrease of 4 billion 580 million dollars was observed as of April 5th.

The amount of installment commercial loans increased Consumer loans in deposit banks decreased by 0.63% to 1 trillion 524 billion 174 million 855 thousand lira at the end of the week of April 5th. During the same period, installment commercial loans increased by 0.46% to 1 trillion 462 billion 362 million 275 thousand lira, and the balance of credit cards increased by 1.05% to 1 trillion 836 billion 314 million 237 thousand lira.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, 401 billion 875 million 190 thousand lira were housing loans, 68 billion 904 million 708 thousand lira were vehicle loans, and 1 trillion 53 billion 394 million 957 thousand lira were other loans.

The total loan volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by 13 billion 844 million 152 thousand lira to 12 trillion 429 billion 390 million 850 thousand lira at the end of the week of April 5th. The total loan volume increased by 49.60% compared to the same period last year.
