Opel Turkey Doubles Sales in Passenger, Commercial, and Total Markets in 2023

Opel Turkey General Manager Yiğit Yantaç stated, “With our rising performance, in 2023, we rose to the position of the 3rd country with the highest Opel sales, following Germany and the UK. This success is a source of great pride for both us and Turkey.”

Opel Turkey significantly increased its sales in the passenger, commercial, and overall markets, more than doubling its sales compared to 2022. With a total of 73,865 units sold last year, Opel achieved over 100% growth in both the passenger and commercial vehicle markets.

According to the company’s statement, Opel continues to improve its sales performance. In 2023, Opel achieved sales of 73,865 units, more than doubling its sales compared to 2022, concluding the year with a 6% market share and securing the 6th position.

The exceptional performance of passenger models played a significant role in this success, particularly the performance of Opel’s B-segment models. In 2023, Opel achieved 61,057 units of passenger car sales in Turkey.

In 2022, the brand had a 5.12% share of the passenger car market with 30,378 units, but last year, it increased its total sales by 101%, reaching a 6.3% share in the overall market.

Opel experienced a notable breakthrough in the commercial vehicle market in 2023. With 6,347 units sold in 2022, Opel increased its performance by 102% last year, concluding with 12,808 units of commercial vehicle sales. The brand’s share in the commercial vehicle market also increased from 3.3% to 4.8%.

Opel Corsa became the 4th most preferred brand in the passenger car market last year. With 20,840 units sold, Opel Corsa completed 2023 as the leader among imported models in its segment, achieving a 14.6% market share. Among all B-segment hatchbacks, Corsa maintained its 3rd position.

Opel’s B-SUV models, Mokka and Crossland, also demonstrated a rising performance. With 15,982 units sold, Mokka secured the 3rd position in its segment with a 10.9% market share. Crossland followed closely in the 2nd position with 13,090 units sold.

Opel became the most preferred brand in the B-SUV market with a total of 29,072 units sold, securing a 19.1% market share and becoming the 4th most preferred brand in the overall SUV market.

Opel Turkey General Manager Yiğit Yantaç commented on their achievements, stating that they started the year with a sales target of 50,000 units but revised it to over 60,000 units due to their rising performance. Yantaç emphasized that reaching 73,865 units of sales at the end of the year distinguished them on the global stage, making Turkey the 3rd country with the highest Opel sales in 2023, following Germany and the UK.

Corsa, Mokka, and Crossland played a crucial role in boosting sales, according to Yantaç. He highlighted the significant growth in the commercial vehicle market, especially with the Zafira Life model reaching 1,853 units sold, placing it 2nd in its segment with a 13.4% market share.

Yantaç also pointed out Opel’s notable position in the electric vehicle market in 2023. Both Corsa Electric and Mokka Electric achieved high performances, with Corsa Electric reaching 1,777 units sold, leading its segment with a 44.1% market share. Similarly, Mokka Electric achieved a 65.1% segment share with 1,757 units sold, securing its position as the clear leader. Together, both models reached 3,534 units of sales and a 52% market share in the electric B-segment, making Opel the leader in this category. Yantaç expressed confidence that their success in the electric vehicle market would continue in 2024, especially with the performance of Astra Electric.
