CBRT plans to terminate regulation related to securities custody soon

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) plans to terminate the regulation related to securities custody soon. The decision has been made to reduce the securities custody ratio applied to obligations subject to securities custody from 4% to 1% and to end the application related to securities custody based on credit growth.

In the announcement regarding the simplification in the macro-prudential framework, it was stated that the CBRT continues to simplify macro-prudential policies to maintain the functionality of the market mechanism and macro-financial stability.

The announcement stated, “As part of the regulation related to securities custody; it has been decided to reduce the securities custody ratio applied to obligations subject to securities custody from 4% to 1% and to terminate the application related to securities custody based on credit growth. The termination of this regulation is planned in the near future.”
