The number of real estate investment funds (REIFs) is expected to exceed 200 by the end of this year. According to a statement from the Real Estate Investors Association (GYODER), the number of REIFs, which was 95 in December 2022, reached 134 by the end of 2023.

During this period, the portfolio size of REIFs also approached 68 billion Turkish liras with a 133% increase.

With the recent implementation of the Project Real Estate Investment Fund regulation, expected to contribute to housing production and urban transformation processes, it is anticipated that the number of real estate investment funds will exceed 200 by the end of the year, and there will be a continued rise in the number of REIF investors, which currently stands at 1635.

“REIFs will play an important role in revitalizing the real estate sector” Berna Sema Yiğit Sevindi, Chairperson of the GYODER REIF Committee, commented on the growth rates of REIFs in 2022 and 2023, stating:

“The number of REIFs with approved issuance documents reached 134 by the end of 2023. REIFs, which play an important role in securitizing real estate and increasing liquidity, will continue to play a crucial role in reopening and revitalizing the contracting real estate sector in the coming years. Particularly, Project Real Estate Investment Funds, expected to be launched in the first half of this year, will contribute to urban transformation and housing production by enabling REIFs to invest in real estate projects.”
