Turkish Automobile Exports Exceed $2.5 Billion in First Quarter, Reaching 73 Countries

More than $2.5 billion of passenger car exports were made from Turkiye to 73 countries, autonomous and free zones in the first quarter of the year.

According to the compilation of data from Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Association, the passenger car group constituted 28.2% of the automotive industry’s foreign sales of $9 billion 132 million 431 thousand in January-March 2024.

Passenger car exports, which were $2 billion 625 million 457 thousand in the first 3 months of last year, decreased by 1.7% to $2 billion 578 million 961 thousand in the same period of this year.

Passenger cars were sent from Turkiye to 73 countries, autonomous and free zones in the first quarter of the year.

58.5% increase in Turkiye’s passenger car exports to Italy

Exports to France, the country where the most passenger cars were sold in the 3-month exports of sector representatives, decreased by 11% compared to the same period last year, falling to $410 million 415 thousand.

Exports to Italy, where $225 million 304 thousand of passenger cars were exported in January-March 2023, increased by 58.5% in the same period this year, reaching $357 million 286 thousand.

The United Kingdom ranked third in passenger car exports in the first quarter of the year with $328 million 331 thousand, an increase of 9.64%.

Exports of $1 billion 96 million 32 thousand to France, Italy and the United Kingdom in 3 months corresponded to 42.5% of the total passenger car exports.

Germany ranks 4th in passenger car exports with $244 million 611 thousand, an increase of 12.71%.

Industry representatives exported passenger cars worth $185 million 353 thousand to Spain, $148 million 545 thousand to Poland, and $100 million 57 thousand to Slovenia.

There were high export increases to Algeria, Australia and Egypt

In the passenger car group, there were remarkable increases in exports to some countries and autonomous regions.

Exports to Algeria, which were $8 million 12 thousand in the January-March period of 2023, increased by 441% to $43 million 372 thousand in the same months of this year.

Exports to Australia increased by 638%, from $2 million 678 thousand to $19 million 774 thousand, and to Egypt increased by 816%, from $2 million 86 thousand to $19 million 130 thousand.
