BIST 100 index gains over 31 points in opening session
Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,835.33 points on Thursday, up 1.73%, or 31.18 points, from the previous close.
The BIST 100 index of Borsa Istanbul closed at 1,804.15 points on Wednesday, with a daily trading volume of 42 billion liras ($3.37 billion).
The recovery of the Turkish lira also continues following Monday’s announcement of government measures to shore up its value.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 11.9430 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT),versus 12.4580 at the previous close.
The euro/lira exchange rate was down to 13.5930 from 14.1010, while a British pound traded for 16.0490 liras, down from 16.6670.
A barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $75.43 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
