Foreign trade in Turkish lira approached ₺210 billion in two months of the year

Foreign trade in Turkish lira increased by 39.4% in the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year, reaching ₺207 billion 738 million.

According to the AA correspondent’s compilation of Ministry of Commerce data, exports in February increased by 13.6% compared to the same month last year, reaching $21 billion 86 million. Thus, the highest February export value in the history of the Republic was reached.

During this period, there was also an increase in exports in Turkish lira.

Exports in Turkish lira increased by 69.4% in January compared to the same month last year, reaching ₺30 billion 969 million. Imports also increased by 68.1%, reaching ₺81 billion 161 million. In the month in question, foreign trade volume with Turkish lira increased by 68.5% and reached ₺112 billion 130 million. In the first month of last year, exports were ₺18 billion 284 million, while imports were calculated as ₺48 billion 274 million. In the month in question, foreign trade volume was recorded as ₺66 billion 558 million.

In February, exports in Turkish lira increased by 19.6% to ₺25 billion 135 million compared to the same month of 2023, and imports increased by 14.7% to ₺70 billion 473 million. Foreign trade volume was calculated as ₺95 billion 608 million in February, with an increase of 15.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. In February last year, ₺21 billion 14 million of exports and ₺61 billion 449 million of imports were made in Turkish lira. Foreign trade volume increased to ₺82 billion 463 million.

Thus, the foreign trade volume in the two months of last year was calculated as ₺149 billion 21 million.

On the other hand, a total of ₺39 billion 298 million of exports were made in the January-February 2023 period, while ₺56 billion 104 million of products were exported in the same period this year. Considering the two-month periods, imports increased from ₺109 billion 723 million to ₺151 billion 634 million. Foreign trade volume increased by 39.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching ₺207 billion 738 million.

Last month, exports were made to 168 countries in Turkish lira

In the first month of this year, exports were made to 164 countries in Turkish lira. 31 thousand 63 companies used Turkish lira in their foreign sales.

In February, the number of countries exporting in lira increased to 168 and the number of companies increased to 32 thousand 382.
