While the activity in cruise tourism in Turkiye continues, there was an increase in both the number of ships and the number of cruise tourists in the 8-month period of this year.
According to the data of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, while 597 cruise ships docked at the ports in the January-August period of last year, the number of ships increased by 20.4% to 719 in the same period this year. In the same period, the number of cruise tourists increased by 64%, from 552 thousand 581 to 906 thousand 582
Kusadasi was the port that hosted the most cruise ships and tourists with 331 ships and 498 thousand 763 passengers in the said period. While 126 ships docked at Istanbul Galataport, 217 thousand 337 passengers arrived.
While 55 thousand 537 cruise tourists visited Bodrum, this port was followed by Cesme Port with 42 thousand 937 passengers. Antalya hosted 17 thousand 855, Marmaris 14 thousand 150, Canakkale 13 thousand 549, Izmir 9 thousand 127 cruise passengers.
