Vice President Yılmaz Evaluates Labor Force Statistics

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz shared his thoughts on the recently released labor force statistics today, highlighting a slight increase in January’s unemployment figures compared to December but expressing optimism about the overall performance.

In a social media post, Yılmaz stated, “Despite a slight uptick in the seasonally adjusted unemployment data for January compared to December, the figures have outperformed our expectations from the Medium-Term Program (OVP), registering at 9.1%.”

He further informed the public that the employment rate had reached its highest level to date, standing at 49%. Yılmaz emphasized the significance of this achievement, especially with the increase in female employment, pushing the total employment figure to 32 million 222 thousand people.

“With the rise in economic potential, employment not only contributes to macroeconomic stability but also plays a crucial role in enhancing social welfare. We will continue to pursue employment-friendly policies within the framework of macroeconomic stability,” Yılmaz concluded.
