VIOP Index Contract Starts Day with 0.7% Decrease

The June futures contract based on the BIST 30 index at the Borsa Istanbul Futures and Options Market (VIOP) began the day at 12,337.50 points, marking a 0.7% decrease from the previous session’s close.

Yesterday, the index contract closed the normal session at 12,420.00 points, down 0.4% from its previous close. It continued to decline in the evening session, falling by 0.5% to 12,361.00 points.

Analysts noted a mixed trend in global stock markets following Nvidia’s record income announcement, despite indications from the US Federal Reserve’s minutes that the policy rate may remain high for longer than expected.

Today, attention is focused on the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye’s (CBRT) interest rate decision. All economists in AA Finance’s expectations survey anticipate the CBRT will maintain the policy rate at 50%, with a median year-end policy rate expectation of 45%.

Additionally, Turkiye’s 5-year credit risk premium (CDS) continued its downward trend, reaching its lowest level since February 2020 at 263.1 basis points.
