Warning from Minister of Treasury and Finance Şimşek regarding rental income declaration

Minister Şimşek reminded, “We remind taxpayers with rental income exceeding the exemption amount of 21,000 lira for the year 2023 to submit their declarations by April 5 to avoid any sanctions.”

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek provided information about rental income declarations on his social media account.

Şimşek emphasized that the Revenue Administration continues its meticulous efforts to identify taxpayers who obtain rental income but fail to submit declarations by utilizing administrative records (such as title deeds, MERNİS) and technological capabilities to the fullest extent. He stated:

“Out of the 1.2 million real estates included in our audit plan, we have conducted on-site inspections in approximately 420,000 properties so far. We continue our field inspections and inform our taxpayers. We remind taxpayers with rental income exceeding the exemption amount of 21,000 lira for the year 2023 to submit their declarations by April 5 to avoid any sanctions. We are strengthening our fight against informal economy for fair competition and fiscal discipline.”
