A giant logistics center: Filyos Port will take Turkiye one step further

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar inspected Filyos Port. Minister Uraloglu stated that Filyos Port will be a giant logistics center and said, “It will take both the region and Turkiye one step further.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu stated that Filyos Port, which is a giant logistics center project, can serve large tonnage ships with its 14 and 19 meter deep docks, with an annual capacity of 25 million tons that can handle 13 ships.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, together with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, made inspections at Filyos Natural Gas Processing Facility and Filyos Port. Before the inspection tour, the two ministers were briefed on both the processing facility and the port. Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacibektasoglu, AK Party Zonguldak MPs Muammer Avci, Saffet Bozkurt, Ahmet Colakoglu, AK Party Zonguldak Provincial Chairman Mustafa Caglayan also attended the meeting.

A GIANT LOGISTICS CENTER

Minister of Transport Uraloglu, in his written statement regarding the inspection tour, said, “We examined the railway and road connections of Filyos Port with our Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar. Filyos Port, a giant logistics center project that will take our country further and take it to a leading position in its sector; It has an annual capacity of 25 million tons, which can handle 13 ships, and will be able to serve large tonnage ships with its 14 and 19 meter deep docks.”

Minister Uraloglu stated that the dock and rear area construction at Filyos Port, which is a ‘giant logistics center’ project that will take both the region and Turkiye one step further, was completed and put into service with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 04.06.2021.

Uraloglu stated that the port has a 2 thousand 450 meter main and 1.370 meter secondary jetty and also two docks of 3 thousand meters in total, one of which is 14 meters deep and the other 19 meters deep. “The annual capacity of our Filyos Port, which can handle 13 ships of different sizes at the same time, is 25 million tons.”

Uraloglu stated that the infrastructure construction of the port was carried out with public resources and that it was decided to carry out the superstructure equipment supply and operation with the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

350 METERS LONG AND 32 METERS WIDE

Minister Uraloglu stated that the general cargo (west) dock and the entire back area within the scope of the project, as well as an area of 350 meters long and 32 meters wide on the container west dock, and an area of 320 meters long and 32 meters wide on the Dry Cargo (East) dock located on the main breakwater, was temporarily allocated to TPAO.

Uraloglu stated that the tender preparation works for the supply and operation of superstructure equipment with the Build-Operate-Transfer model are continuing.

Minister Uraloglu, who also gave information about the Filyos Port Junction Line Connection, reminded that it was prepared in 2019, before the Sakarya Gas Field Project, when the TPAO General Directorate had not started to be present in the region, with 12 kilometers of railway and 4.5 kilometers of highway.

Minister Uraloglu stated that discussions were held with TPAO General Directorate within the framework of the current actual situation with the emergence of the gas discovered in the Black Sea, and stated that the ‘Revised Line Design Report’, which includes a revised route design, was prepared by the consultant company.

Minister Uraloglu stated that TPAO General Directorate was asked for an opinion regarding the renewed project route through an official letter, and said that the project regarding the Filyos Port Railway Project planning has been suspended due to the declaration of the region in question as a special security zone in order to carry out the logistics activities for the transportation of natural gas to the land safely and quickly and the strategic importance of the area of ​​operation.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, who inspected the Filyos Natural Gas Processing Facility and Filyoz Port together with Minister Uraloglu, stated in his statement that they have dug 23 wells in the Sakarya Gas Field so far. “Our production has reached 2.7 million cubic meters. We aim to increase this production to 10 million cubic meters in the shortest time, and eventually to 40 million cubic meters, and to supply natural gas to 15 million households from here.”
