Total air cargo demand posts 6th consecutive month of double-digit growth in May, says International Air Transport Association
Global air cargo markets continued to grow strongly in demand in May, the International Air Transport Association said on Tuesday.
Total demand, measured in cargo ton-kilometers, rose 14.7% from May 2023 – the sixth consecutive month of double-digit year-on-year growth.
Capacity, measured in available cargo ton-kilometers,climbed 6.7% from May 2023.
Willie Walsh, the group’s director general, said: “Air cargo demand moved sharply upwards in May across all regions.
“The sector benefitted from trade growth, booming e-commerce and capacity constraints on maritime shipping.”
