Aquaculture associations to be established based on products: Agriculture Minister

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has implemented a regulation allowing the establishment of associations based on single products or product groups in aquaculture.

The regulation, titled “Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on the Principles and Procedures for the Establishment of Agricultural Producer Organizations,” was published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.

With this regulation, specific products and product groups related to aquaculture have been identified. Accordingly, marine aquaculture products such as Turkish salmon, sea bream, sea bass, mussels, tuna, mollusks, crustaceans, and aquatic plants have been determined. Inland aquaculture products include trout (all trout species), carp, grass carp, and catfish, along with mollusks, crustaceans, and aquatic plants.

According to information obtained from the Ministry, the regulation details the products produced under the headings of “marine products” and “inland aquatic products” according to the needs of aquaculture producers. Thus, the establishment of producer associations for these products, either individually or in groups, is aimed.

In this way, producers will be able to provide the necessary capacity for the establishment of associations based on single products, multiple products, or product groups and will be able to market their aquaculture products more easily through these associations.
