Automotive Industry Giants to Convene in Istanbul for FIGIEFA General Assembly

The Turkish automotive industry will host one of the largest organizations in the sector. The International Federation of Vehicle Parts Importers, Exporters and Wholesalers, of which the Automotive Aftermarket Products and Services Association is a member, decided to hold its General Assembly in Turkiye.

The International Federation of Vehicle Parts Importers, Exporters and Wholesalers (FIGIEFA), of which the Automotive Aftermarket Products and Services Association (OSS) is a member, decided to hold its General Assembly in Turkiye.

According to the statement made by the association, the Turkish automotive industry is preparing to host one of the largest organizations in the sector.

FIGIEFA, the umbrella organization of associations representing the automotive after-sales market in Europe, will hold its first general assembly outside Brussels in many years in Turkiye.

Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Brussels, FIGIEFA represents 19 associations and 5 purchasing groups from 18 countries. The federation, which aims to protect free trade and effective competition in the market for vehicle spare parts, service and repair, will bring together officials of the world’s largest after-sales companies.

FIGIEFA, of which OSS is a member and OSS General Secretary Emirhan Silahtaroglu is one of the 8 board members, will hold its elective general assembly in Istanbul on May 22.

“EACH HAS A TURNOVER OF BILLION EUROS”

Ali Ozcete, Chairman of the Board of OSS Association, stated that 41 members of FIGIEFA’s management and general assembly will visit Turkiye and emphasized that they will have the opportunity to recognize Turkiye’s potential in the purchases of these companies, each of which has a turnover of billion euros.

Ozcete drew attention to the importance of 41 representatives representing the European after-sales market through the association channel and said:

“Since Mr. Emirhan is also a member of the Board of Directors, we follow FIGIEFA’s initiatives closely. Our call to FIGIEFA for the Board of Directors and its timing are of additional importance. Automechanika Istanbul, Turkiye’s largest international trade fair, which will be held at TUYAP on 23-26 May, has become one of the most important trade platforms in the world in this field with the opportunities it provides to our members, the industry and our country’s exports. We believe that FIGIEFA members visiting the Automechanika Istanbul 2024 fair, which we are the main supporter of and will host over 1500 participants, will make a positive contribution to Turkiye’s spare parts exports. We are happy to be a stakeholder of Automechanika Istanbul, where the entire automotive after-sales value chain will come together and thousands of product and service groups will be exhibited.”

TARGET IS A MARKET AREA ON EQUAL LEVEL WITH THE MAIN INDUSTRY

Silahtaroglu also stated that FIGIEFA aims to establish effective competition and defend the right of motor vehicle owners to carry out maintenance and repair operations by taking their vehicles to the services they choose.

Silahtaroglu said, “The European market provides services to 284 million vehicle owners with more than 4.3 million jobs and over 500 thousand companies. One of the main objectives of the Federation is to provide a market space for the ‘Independent Automotive Aftermarket’ on an equal footing with OEMs that supply parts to vehicle manufacturers, through laws and regulations. “From this perspective, FIGIEFA works to ensure that all market stakeholders can practice their profession and offer competitive products and services for the benefit of automobile consumers.”
