Automotive sales across Turkiye broke the record for February with 105 thousand sales

Automotive sales across Turkiye increased by 30.6% last month compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 105 thousand 990 units, breaking the all-time February record.

According to February data of the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), 105 thousand 990 automobiles and light commercial vehicles were sold across the country last month.

In February, automobile sales increased by 39.67%, reaching 82 thousand 277 units, and the light commercial vehicle market increased by 6.6%, reaching 23 thousand 713. The automobile and light commercial vehicle market increased by 112.6% compared to the 10-year average sales in February.

The automotive market increased by 40.6% on an annual basis in the January-February period, reaching 185 thousand 691 units.

C segment and SUV cars came to the fore in the first 2 months

When examined by segment in the first 2 months of the year, 88.9% of the market was made up of vehicles in segments A, B and C, which have low tax rates. C segment cars took a 58.3% share with 85 thousand 263 units, and B segment cars took a 30.2% share with 44 thousand 198 units.

When evaluated according to body types, the most preferred body type was SUV cars with 50.7% share and 74 thousand 143 units. It was followed by sedans with a 29.7% share and 43 thousand 509 sales, and H/B cars with a 17.8% share and 26 thousand 51 sales.

Automatic cars were preferred the most

Of the cars sold in the January-February period, 66.9% were gasoline cars, 14.8% were hybrid, 10.9% were diesel, 6.7% were electric and 0.8% were autogas cars. 77.8% of automobile sales consisted of vehicles under 1600cc.

Cars with automatic transmission had a share of 89.1% of sales, and cars with manual transmission had a share of 10.9%.

Van body came first in light commercial segment

When the light commercial vehicle market was evaluated according to body type in the January-February period, van body type vehicles ranked first with a share of 73.1%, while pickup truck body type ranked second with a share of 12.7%.
