Borsa Istanbul Initiates the Day with Record-breaking Momentum

Borsa Istanbul, the stock exchange in Turkey, commenced the trading day with a remarkable surge, setting a new record in the process. The BIST 100 index started the day with a 0.76% increase, reaching 8711.84 points.

On the previous trading day, the BIST 100 experienced a notable 1.76% gain, closing at 8,646.12 points. Following the record-breaking closure yesterday, the index continued its upward trajectory today, establishing a new record at the opening. After the recent surge, the index reached as high as $285 in dollar terms.

In yesterday’s trading session on the BIST 100, 91 stocks ended the day in positive territory, while 8 stocks incurred losses. The daily trading volume for the BIST 100 reached 113.1 billion Turkish Lira, constituting 68.9% of the total volume.

The positive trend observed at the opening of the Borsa Istanbul continued in the initial transactions. Looking at sectors, communication, transportation, and holding sectors were notably in demand at the opening. The mineral sector, however, was the sole sector to start the day in the negative. Small and medium-sized enterprises (Kobi) and banks, on the other hand, had a neutral opening.

The stocks that stood out in the first hour among those included in the BIST 100 index were SAHOL, ASTOR, MIATK, ARCLK, and TATEN. On the contrary, CIMSA, OYAKC, AKCNS, KRDMD, and SDTTR began the last trading day of the week with a partial decline.

In the broader context of the Borsa Istanbul, SNPAM reached the ceiling price at the opening. Conversely, TETMT and KBORU stocks declined to the floor price, marking the largest decrease in value for the day.
