The growth rate for payments made by credit card compared to the same period of the previous year was 129%, and 89% for payments made by debit card, while this rate was 126% for payments made by prepaid cards.
According to Interbank Card Center (BKM) data, the total payment amount made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in October increased by 122% compared to the same period last year and reached ₺836.4 billion.
BKM ANNOUNCED ITS DATA FOR OCTOBER
Accordingly, as of October, the number of credit cards in Turkiye was 113.9 million, the number of debit cards was 186.2 million and the number of prepaid cards was 85.8 million. Compared to October last year, the number of credit cards increased by 18%, the number of debit cards increased by 12%, and the number of prepaid cards increased by 25%. The total number of cards reached 385.9 million, increasing by 16% compared to the same period last year.
The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in October increased by 122% compared to the same period last year and reached ₺836.4 billion. While ₺683.6 billion of card payments were made with credit cards, ₺137.3 billion were made with debit cards and ₺15.5 billion were prepaid cards.
3 OUT OF EVERY 4 CARD PAYMENTS MADE IN-STORE WERE CONTACTLESS
The growth rate in payments made by credit card compared to the same period of the previous year was 129%, and 89% in payments made by debit card, while this rate was 126% in payments made by prepaid cards.
The total number of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in October increased by 26% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.4 billion. While 789.9 million of card payments were made with credit cards, 548.5 million were made with debit cards and 100.6 million were prepaid cards.
The growth rate in the number of payments made with credit cards was 28% compared to the same period last year, 22% in the number of payments made with debit cards, while this rate was 36% in the number of payments made with prepaid cards.
Online card payment was determined as ₺237 billion. 3 out of every 4 card payments made in-store were made contactless.
