Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye increased its year-end inflation and dollar forecasts

In the Central Bank Market Participants Survey, the year-end inflation forecast increased to 67.22% and the dollar forecast increased to 30.14.

The Central Bank published the “September 2023 Market Participants Survey”, which was conducted with 41 participants consisting of real sector, financial sector representatives and professionals. Accordingly, the year-end inflation forecast increased to 67.22% and the dollar forecast increased to ₺30.14.

INFLATION EXPECTATION

While the current year-end consumer inflation (CPI) expectation was 59.46% in the previous survey period, it became 67.22% in this survey period. 12-month ahead CPI expectation increased from 42.01% to 44.94%.

DOLLAR EXPECTATION

While the year-end dollar expectation was ₺29.82 in the previous survey period, it increased to ₺30.14 in this survey period, and the 12-month dollar expectation increased from ₺34.58 to ₺37.26.

INTEREST EXPECTATION

While the current month-end overnight interest rate expectation in the BIST Repo and Reverse-Repo Market was 19.34% in the previous survey period, it became 29.26% in this survey period. The current month-end expectation of the CBRT one-week repo auction interest rate was 30.00% in this survey period, while it was 19.19% in the previous survey period.

GROWTH EXPECTATION

While the GDP growth expectation for 2023 was 3.7% in the previous survey period, it became 3.9% in this survey period. GDP growth expectation for 2024 decreased from 4% to 3.8%.
