Cereals and pulses export of $913.5 million from the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters

Veysel Memis, Chairman of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBIB), announced that their union made foreign sales of $913.5 million in the January-June period.

Memis, in his written statement, stated that as AHBIB, they provided 17% support to the sector’s exports in Turkiye, worth $5.5 billion in the first half of the year.

Memis stated that their union evaluated 1 million 2 thousand 61 tons of products in international markets in the January-June period, “Our union exported $913.5 million in the first half of this year. AHBIB reached the highest values in pulses, pastry products and vegetable oils.”

Evaluating AHBIB’s product and country exports in the first half of the year, Memis said:

“We exported $292.7 million in pulses with a 9% increase, $197 million in pastry products with an increase of 6%, and $101,6 million in vegetable oils. During this period, we earned $177.3 million in foreign currency from the export of red lentils, which constitutes 19% of our regional exports. Our association, which exports to 171 countries in January-June, reached the highest values in the Iraqi, Syrian and German markets. We exported $248.4 million to Iraq, $61.2 million to Syria, and $32.7 million to Germany, which constitute 27% of our regional exports.”
