Eastern Black Sea’s salmon exports increased by 41% and reached $144 million

Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea region between January and November increased by 41% and reached $144 million 600 thousand 557.

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, said that 24 thousand 103 tons of Turkish salmon were exported from the region to 21 countries.

Stating that $144 million 600 thousand 557 of income was obtained from these exports, Kalyoncu stated that exports increased by 68% in quantity and 41% in value compared to the same period of the previous year, when 14 thousand 324 tons equivalent to $102 million 851 thousand 77 were earned.

Kalyoncu pointed out that the Russian Federation is the leader in Turkish salmon exports and said, “Exports were made from our region to 21 countries in 11 months. The Russian Federation, Vietnam and Belarus were the 3 countries with the most exports. During this period, salmon worth $100 million 713 thousand 349 were exported to the Russian Federation, $29 million 711 thousand 976 to Vietnam and $5 million 293 thousand 549 to Belarus.”

Pointing out that $96 million 126 thousand 333 of the region’s exports were carried out from Trabzon, Kalyoncu said:

“This period, 15 thousand 807 tons of salmon were exported from our city to 12 countries, especially Russia, Vietnam and Japan. In the same period last year, $57 million 17 thousand 385 were earned from 7 thousand 654 tons of salmon exports. In this context, Turkish salmon exports from Trabzon increased by 106% in quantity and 69% in value compared to the same period last year.”

Kalyoncu stated that Turkish salmon is an important export item for the region and the country, and added that they expect to close the year with an increase in exports.
