Ford Otosan made Ford the leader in European commercial vehicle sales for the 8th time

Transit Custom, produced in Ford Otosan Kocaeli factories, became the best-selling van vehicle in the 1-ton segment in Turkiye and Europe and was named the best-selling vehicle of the year in England.

Ford became Europe’s commercial vehicle sales leader in 2022 with the production power of Ford Otosan, the commercial vehicle base.

According to Ford Otosan’s statement, Transit Custom, produced in Ford Otosan Kocaeli factories, became the best-selling van vehicle in the 1-ton segment in Turkiye and Europe, and was named the best-selling vehicle of the year in England. This marks eight consecutive years of market leadership for Ford and marked a new record in the industry.

The most important share in this record was the Ford Transit Custom, which has the title of the best-selling commercial van in the 1-ton segment in Europe, produced at Ford Otosan Kocaeli Plants.

With the success of Transit Custom and Ford Otosan’s production power, Ford reached the highest total market share ever in Europe with 15%, while increasing its market share in 11 countries, including England, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and Turkiye, year on year.

‘We will continue to be the reliable partner of our customers’

Hans Schep, General Manager of Ford Pro Europe, said: “Breaking the European market leadership record for eight years in a row is an indication of the trust our commercial customers have in Ford. As we roll out our unique software, charging and service platform across Europe, we will continue to be our customers’ trusted partner for productivity.’

According to the statement, Ford Otosan has been continuing its investments, AR-GR and innovation studies for a long time by focusing on electric and hybrid vehicles, with the electrification strategy it developed in line with its vision to lead the electric transformation of the automotive industry.

Ford Otosan, which announced an investment plan of 2 billion Euros in 2021 for the implementation of electric and connected new-generation commercial vehicle projects until 2026, is of strategic importance in Ford’s electric transformation. One of the important milestones in Ford Otosan’s electrification journey was E-Transit.

In the second quarter of 2022, Ford Otosan took Ford’s first fully electric commercial vehicle, the E-Transit, off the line at its Golcuk plant, which obtains all of its electrical energy from 100% renewable sources. E-Transit has been leading the monthly sales of the 2-ton electric commercial vehicle segment in Europe since June last year.

On the other hand, as of this year, diesel and rechargeable, hybrid electric versions of the ‘Next Generation Transit Custom’ family, as well as the first fully electric version, will be produced at Kocaeli Plants.
