Foreign trade with Turkish lira reached ₺822 billion in 2023

Foreign trade in Turkish lira increased exponentially last year compared to the previous year, reaching ₺821 billion 569 million.

According to the AA correspondent’s compilation of Ministry of Commerce data, the increase in trade in Turkish lira in 2023, when the highest exports in the history of the Republic were realized, also attracted attention.

While exports in Turkish lira were ₺14 billion 587 million and imports were ₺30 billion 738 million in January last year, foreign trade volume increased to ₺45 billion 325 million.

In this category, exports decreased to ₺13 billion 760 million in February 2023, when the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş took place, while imports reached ₺40 billion 364 million. Foreign trade volume was calculated as ₺54 billion 124 million in the month in question.

In March 2023, exports reached ₺17 billion 882 million, imports reached ₺45 billion 754 million, and foreign trade volume reached ₺63 billion 636 million.

In April last year, exports in Turkish lira reached ₺14 billion 298 million, imports reached ₺43 billion 123 million, and foreign trade volume reached ₺57 billion 421 million.

In May 2023, exports in this category were ₺16 billion 218 million, imports were ₺49 billion 481 million, and trade volume was ₺65 billion 699 million.

The highest foreign trade volume was in October

Foreign trade volume with Turkish lira had an increasing trend in the second half of the year.

In June last year, exports reached ₺16 billion 532 million and imports reached ₺45 billion 487 million. Foreign trade volume was calculated as ₺62 billion 19 million in the month in question.

While the export amount was ₺16 billion 388 million and imports ₺54 billion 592 million in July 2023, the foreign trade volume was recorded as ₺70 billion 981 million.

Exports in Turkish lira were ₺20 billion 656 million and imports were ₺52 billion 72 million in August last year. Foreign trade volume was determined as ₺72 billion 728 million in this period.

While exports were ₺20 billion 33 million in September 2023, imports were calculated as ₺54 billion 501 million. During this period, foreign trade volume was determined as ₺74 billion 535 million.

Exports in Turkish lira in the last October were ₺25 billion 311 million. This month, imports were determined as ₺62 billion 659 million, and foreign trade volume was determined as ₺87 billion 970 million. These amounts attracted attention as the highest values during the year.

While exports in Turkish lira were ₺24 billion 524 million in November 2023, imports were calculated as ₺61 billion 661 million and foreign trade volume was calculated as ₺86 billion 186 million.

In December last year, exports in Turkish lira were determined as ₺23 billion 865 million. During this period, imports were recorded as ₺57 billion 81 million, and foreign trade volume was recorded as ₺80 billion 946 million.

Last year, exports in Turkish lira increased by 73.6% compared to the previous year and reached ₺224 billion 56 million. Imports reached ₺597 billion 513 million in this period. Foreign trade volume with Turkish lira increased exponentially from ₺398 billion 371 million in the previous year to ₺821 billion 569 million.
