German business people trust the Turkish economy

Thilo Pahl, Secretary General of the German-Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce, stated that German companies, which see the Turkish economy very positively, invested €700 million in the country last year.

Thilo Pahl answered the questions of the AA correspondent in Gaziantep, where he came to attend the Turkish-German Business and Investment Forum.

Pointing out that Germany and Turkiye have a historical social and economic relationship, Pahl noted that the investment potential of the two countries is increasing day by day.

Pahl made the following evaluations:

“German companies see the economic situation in Turkiye as quite positive. Some of these companies are considering investing from now on. Some of them are planning to evaluate the situation further and invest later. In this sense, the automotive and machinery sectors stand out. Relations between Turkiye and Germany in the automotive sector are at an advanced stage. In the perspective of the next 3-4 years, the Germans want to diversify the market. Then, of course, Turkiye stands out as the most important place in terms of the closest countries within Europe. The Germans invested €700 million in Turkiye last year. Thus, they reached the second largest investment amount in the last 13 years.”

“I think Germans will be interested in Togg”

Emphasizing that electric cars are an important market all over the world, Pahl said the following regarding Togg’s plan to open a dealership in Germany:

“I saw Turkiye’s domestic electric car Togg myself and I liked it. Considering the approximately 3 million Turkish citizens living in Germany, we foresee that there may be a significant sales opportunity. I think that as Togg becomes known, German citizens will also show interest.”
