Industrial Production Index Increases by 2.4% Monthly and 1.6% Annually in December

The Industrial Production Index showed a monthly increase of 2.4% and an annual increase of 1.6% in December 2023, according to the results announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

TÜİK released the results of the industrial production index for December of the previous year, revealing that seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 1.6% compared to the same month in 2022.

When examining the sub-sectors of industry, in December 2023, the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 1.2% compared to the same month of the previous year. In contrast, the manufacturing industry sector index increased by 2.1%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index rose by 4.5%.

There was an annual decrease of 1.32% in the unadjusted industrial production index.

Monthly data on industrial production shows that seasonally and calendar-adjusted industrial production increased by 2.4% in December compared to the previous month. This positive turn comes after a five-month declining trend.

In the same month, when examining the sub-sectors of industry, the manufacturing industry sector index increased by 2.9%, while the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 0.7%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index decreased by 0.1%.
