Istanbul Airport renewed its passenger record on the return of the Eid holiday

Istanbul Airport, Turkiye’s gateway to the world, broke a record in the number of passengers with the flights it hosted on the last day of the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday.

According to the statement made by Istanbul Airport operator IGA, 265 thousand 961 passengers traveled to the airport on Sunday, July 2, with 1642 flights.

Reaching the highest number of passengers since its opening with these figures, Istanbul Airport managed to break the “daily number of passengers” record.

Airport parking lot was full

During the Eid al-Adha holiday, the Istanbul Airport car park with a capacity of 40 thousand vehicles, both indoor and outdoor, was also affected by the density. While the multi-storey car park with a capacity of 10 thousand vehicles was overflowing, there was also a density in the open parking lot, on the floors that provide car rental and valet services.

On April 23, the last day of Eid al-Fitr, Istanbul Airport broke the first record of the year with 1548 daily flights and 244,709 passengers.
