1 thousand 539 imitation watches and 67 glasses with a market value of approximately ₺3 million illegally smuggled into the country in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar were seized.
The Istanbul Police Department’s Anti-Smuggling Crimes Branch Office raided three workplaces in the Grand Bazaar during the efforts to prevent smuggling. In the searches made in the addresses, 1,539 watches and 67 glasses worth ₺3 million, which are imitations of famous brands brought to the country illegally, were seized. In 3 operations carried out in the same month, nearly 20 thousand imitation glasses and watches were caught illegally smuggled into the country.
Judicial proceedings were initiated against 3 suspects caught on the subject for the offense of Opposition to Law No. 5607.
