Istanbul’s transportation network is becoming stronger: Bakirkoy-Kirazli Metro Line

Minister Uraloglu stated that the testing and commissioning works on the Bakirkoy-Kirazli Metro Line have reached the final stage and said, “We will be happy to bring a new metro line to Istanbul by putting our project into service in a very short time.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu gave information about the works on the Bakirkoy-Kirazli Metro Line in his written statement.

Stating that the line is 8.4 kilometers long and consists of 7 stations, Uraloglu stated that the metro will move at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour and carry 1 million passengers a day.

Uraloglu noted that the construction work has come to an end and the line will be opened soon.

Uraloglu emphasized that they carried out meticulous work in one of the densest residential areas of Istanbul and under difficult ground conditions. “We have completed 13.3 kilometers of TBM manufacturing, a total of 16.9 kilometers of tunnel excavation, 3.6 kilometers of which is with the classical tunneling method, and a total of 17 kilometers of railway rail installation. In this context, we have completed the construction of 105 thousand square meters of closed area at 7 stations.”

“We will strengthen Istanbul’s transportation network”

Uraloglu pointed out that they are preparing to put the line into service of Istanbulites and said:

“Testing and commissioning works on the Bakirkoy-Kirazli Metro Line have reached the final stage. Following the Gayrettepe-Kagithane connection of the Istanbul Airport-Gayrettepe Metro Line and the Sirkeci-Kazlicesme Rail System and Pedestrian-Oriented New Generation Transportation Project, we are bringing a new rail system line to Istanbul. We will strengthen Istanbul’s transportation network with the Bakirkoy-Kirazli Metro Line. We will be happy to bring a new metro line to Istanbul by putting our project into service in a very short time.”

Uraloglu informed that the metro line that will start from Bakirkoy consists of Ozgurluk Meydani, Incirli, Haznedar, Ilkyuva, Yildiztepe, Molla Gurani and Kirazli stations. He stated that the line will be integrated with the Basaksehir-Kirazli Line at Kirazli Station, with the metrobus and Aksaray-Ataturk Airport Metro Line at Incirli Station, with Marmaray at Ozgurluk Meydani Station, and with IDO sea buses at Bakirkoy Station.

Transportation time will be shorter

Uraloglu stated that the metro line will provide travel in 39 minutes between Kayasehir and Bakirkoy IDO, 31 minutes in the Cam and Sakura City Hospital-Incirli section, 27 minutes in the Kayasehir-Kirazli line, and 30 minutes in the Metrokent-Ozgurluk Square section.

Drawing attention to the economic gain of the metro line in the 25-year projection, Uraloglu stated that the highway maintenance and operation gain of the project will be $2.4 billion, the accident gain will be $71.5 million, the time gain will be $3.6 billion, for a total of $6.1 billion.
